Star anise, a powerful spice with a warming kick eases us into the cold with gusto. Why not go out with a bang? Just one star anise packs a huge amount of anethole (black licorice) flavor and can take a mild cocktail into new realms. With its unique eight-pointed star shape, this traditional Chinese spice is also quite fitting as we near the pinnacle of our holiday season.
Happy holidays and may the New Year be bountiful.

I love this! I recently bought a bag of star anise and was wondering what I was going to do with it. Another cocktail garnished with a star anise is Falling Leaves!
