Mint Julep
2½ ounces American whiskey (bourbon)
½ ounce simple syrup
3 sprigs of mint (use tender, young mint sprigs)
8 mint leaves
Muddle mint leaves in the bottom of a highball glass with sugar syrup. Fill the glass with crushed ice and add half of the whiskey stirring well. Top with crushed ice and add the remaining whiskey stir with a bar spoon until the outside of the glass frosts. Garnish with the sprigs of mint.
