The Carousel Bar inside of the Hotel Monteleone in the French Quarter is probably my favorite bar in the city. While the cocktails are extraordinary, it is the novelty of this place that really sets it apart. The name of the bar is not a joke--above the bartenders is a ring of light bulbs that looks like a carousel at a fair. The bar slowly moves in a circle, with the patrons moving around the bar and the bartenders remaining in the same spot. It is by no means a fast moving ride; it moves slowly enough that you may not even notice the movement until you look up and realize you’re on the other side of the bar, but in the same seat!

You missed the Sazerac Bar in the newly restored Roosevelt Hotel. One of the city's most famous and overlooked. The cocktail originated there. Beautiful room with excellent bartenders.

The cocktail culture in New Orleans has exploded in the last 3 years. Among my personal favorites are Arnaud's French 75, Bar Tonique, Clever, and the previously mentioned Sazerac Bar. But the three BEST cocktail bars in the city (in my opinion) are Cure, Loa, and Iris.

Consider the polo lounge in the Windsor Court hotel. The best sazerac I have found in the city.

Great suggestions! Next time I'm there I'll be doing a cocktail bar tour without a doubt!
