Piano bars should never go out of style and Pat O’Briens is a perfect example of why they shouldn’t. The bar is usually packed and while it has an outdoor area to sip cocktails in the warmth of a Louisiana night, inside is where you really want to be. The pianists that grace the keys on a nightly basis are truly amazing, keeping the place in a constant state of excitement and entertainment with all sorts of different tunes. Pat O’s is also known for their famous Hurricane, an incredibly strong drink that is guaranteed to knock you out after one too many. For a great time and a strong cocktail, Pat O’s is most definitely the place to be.

You missed the Sazerac Bar in the newly restored Roosevelt Hotel. One of the city's most famous and overlooked. The cocktail originated there. Beautiful room with excellent bartenders.

The cocktail culture in New Orleans has exploded in the last 3 years. Among my personal favorites are Arnaud's French 75, Bar Tonique, Clever, and the previously mentioned Sazerac Bar. But the three BEST cocktail bars in the city (in my opinion) are Cure, Loa, and Iris.

Consider the polo lounge in the Windsor Court hotel. The best sazerac I have found in the city.

Great suggestions! Next time I'm there I'll be doing a cocktail bar tour without a doubt!
