Unknown to many, Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop is the oldest bar in the United States. The establishment was built in 1722 and has a world of interesting Louisiana history behind it. What I really love about Lafitte’s is that upon walking in, you know there is something truly beautiful about this place because of its strong connection to the city. The bar may be old, but the ability to bust out a delicious drink and a good time has never felt more fresh.

You missed the Sazerac Bar in the newly restored Roosevelt Hotel. One of the city's most famous and overlooked. The cocktail originated there. Beautiful room with excellent bartenders.

The cocktail culture in New Orleans has exploded in the last 3 years. Among my personal favorites are Arnaud's French 75, Bar Tonique, Clever, and the previously mentioned Sazerac Bar. But the three BEST cocktail bars in the city (in my opinion) are Cure, Loa, and Iris.

Consider the polo lounge in the Windsor Court hotel. The best sazerac I have found in the city.

Great suggestions! Next time I'm there I'll be doing a cocktail bar tour without a doubt!
