Adding fresh juice and limiting the amount of syrups are a big help. Also, adding club soda or seltzer instead of tonic or other sugary sodas. Just as the right spices can enhance food flavors so you don't miss fatty ingredients, the bar trick is adding bitters to cocktails to punch them up. There are so many great flavored ones out there now, and since all you need is a couple of dashes, they don't do any damage to the waistline.
